The Life and Times of Titus Young
Hello everyone. Welcome back today we are discussing a wide receiver who has many ups and downs. There isn’t a lot of information on his life before college so we will take it from there. If you’re not a fan of football, it’s still pretty interesting.
Football Issues
So, let’s start from the 2011 NFL Draft. So, after Titus put up some nice numbers like 204 receptions for 3,063 yards and 25 touchdowns in his collegiate career. His issues with coaches maybe didn’t start in college but it was not good. He kept getting suspended for games and didn’t play for most of a season. At the 2011 draft he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in round 2 pick #44. With only Megatron as the primary receiver for the team, Young was the #2. After his first year, Young got quieter and more undisciplined on the field. In the week 13 game versus the Saints Young shoved Saints CB Malcolm Jenkins in the face. On May 21st, 2012, Young punched fellow Lions player Louis Delmas in the face. Twice Young lined up on the wrong side of the formation on purpose. He was released on February 4th, 2013. The next day he was picked up on waivers by the St. Louis Rams but was released 10 days later.
After Football
On May 5th, three months after he left football, Young got arrested twice. Once for suspected drunk driving and 14 hours later for trying to steal his car back from the lock-up. On May 10th, Young was arrested and charged on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. On August 27th, 2013, a judge issued a bench warrant for Young’s arrest since he missed a hearing for burglary and attempted burglary. December 18th, 2013, Orange County prosecutors revealed that the criminal case against Young was being settled since his trial was delayed again with him being hospitalized for unspecified treatment. Young was arrested on July 9th, 2014, on five counts of battery. Young was held on bail of $105,000 in LA. In December of 2014, a judge ordered Young must stand trial. In May 2015, Young was sentenced to inpatient treatment at a rehab center in Escondido, CA and five years of probation. Young was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery following a January 30th, 2016, street fight. On April 10th, 2017, Young was sentenced to four years in prison. He was released from prison on December 19th, 2018.
