Before the 2022 Midterm Elections
Hello everyone! For those of you who don’t know, this is my website. I wanted to jot down some thoughts about a month out from the national Midterm elections. If you enjoy this please tell me either on here or if you know me personally, in my DM’s. Let’s start in my home state of Michigan
Whitmer vs Dixon
Listen, while I am not the biggest fan of Governor Whitmer, she has done well and I liked her Covid response. I wish she should fulfill her campaign promise from 4 years ago and “FIX THE DAMN ROADS” but done an decent job outside of that. I do not know much about Ms. Dixon, however, her stance on Abortion is abhorrent and not what I would like to see as a sitting Governor. Also I heard she wants to take away the Michigan State Police, not something I am in favor of either. While I have issues with cops the MSP have been great. Friendly people and very helpful.
Proposal 2
Okay so let’s start here and we can talk about Proposal 3 next. So I am in favor of Prop 2, making voting easier, not harder, for citizens in the state. I like freedom and democracy, not something to take lightly. So if you live and vote in MI we should all vote Yes on Prop 2.
Proposal 3
Now to get a little more divisive. I think Abortion rights should be protected. I do not think they should be restricted. So while you have your own thoughts, this could be a slippery slope. Once you ban Abortion, the same people will then want to ban contraception, I don’t think I should need to tell you why that’s not good. Now again you are your own person, you might think that is good. Let me tell you it’s not. Without contraception, babies will be born in worse conditions than they are now. Like ultra-poor people who make so little they can barely take care of themselves. Not good. While you might not like Abortion, we all need to take a serious look at how this would worsen poverty and worsen kid’s lives who are born into this ultra-poverty.
District 1
I have lived in Traverse City, Michigan, my entire life. For the last 5 years, I have lived in a world where Jack Bergman has actually failed the 1st District. Now you’re probably asking “Jared, Do you have any evidence he has failed us?” Jack Bergman voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as Obamacare in 2017, without having a replacement for it. Jack Bergman sided with then-President Trump, barring Transgender soldiers from the Military. Jack Bergman objected to President Biden’s win being certified and told everyone he would do so twice. I will say he defended Same-Sex marriage and voted in favor to allow the Department of Commerce to award grants to Native American tribes for Historical preservation, environmental protection and climate change mitigation. While there are positives, I think I made a case for voting in Bob Lorinser as the new District 1 representative.
